This battle occured on October 5, 1864 in Allatoona, Georgia. The Union general was Gen. John Corse with a little over 2,000 men, and the Confederate general was Gen. Smauel G French with 3,000 men.

Significance: This battle occurred shortly after William T. Sherman captured Atlanta, so the commander of the Confederate Army after the fall of Atlanta decided to attack Sherman’s supply line, the Western and Atlantic Railroad.
